<H1>Re-do Wrigley?
Quote:

By Dave van Dyck, 3:30 p.m.
Davey Nelson is a former Cub broadcaster and Brewer first base coach, and his suggestion for Wrigley Field is to not only tear up the field, but gut the insides as well.

Apparently this has been discussed internally. This link is from June, but apparently it's been discussed for a while.

Could the Sox and Cubs play in the same stadium?

They are already fixing the field. And it will be ready for opening day. Now the rest of the stadium could be a challege. If they want to keep Wrigley, and make it more fan-friendly, I think they can swallow their pride for a year or two.

You want to watch a fan base that has remained loyal in the face of a century's worth of futility melt away like a snowball in Guam? Gut Wrigley Field and "modernize" it. It's not the outer shell that keeps the fans coming. It's the entire old-school experience. The team messes with that tradition at their own peril. If they Soldier Fieldize that place, I'm outta here.

You and many others.

They can get red of that stupid looking concrete paneling (I'm sure there's a better description of this stuff, but I think you guys know what I'm talking about). Otherwise, leave it alone!

They have already taken most of that "concrete paneling" off. Yeah that stuff is horrendous. (It is not an original feature of the park either)

Yeah, I saw that they had removed some. I didn't know how far that was going. When I first moved to Chicago I marveled at Wrigley every time I passed it. Now I barely notice it.

So it goes.

Well it always was notable to go around it the outside for me until I moved closed to it. Now I pass by it probably a dozens times per week!

The inside of the park will never fall out of my heart. So many personal memories...

Now that I can agree with. Something about turning the corner and all of a sudden seeing that field....

It's pretty awesome.

...And that is why I am against them gutting the park. Enough has already been done in the last 20 years or so that has been detrimental to the integrity of Wrigleys greatness. Like Drover said before, if they pull some Soldier Field type crap with the grandstand, they have lost me forever also...
