Tax Increment Financing (TIF) is effectively a surcharge added to your property tax bill. Instead of going to the schools, parks, police, etc, the money is diverted to bank accounts largely controlled by the mayor. It seems to be a large, personal slush fund with very little, if any, oversight. The abuse of these funds by the mayor of Chicago has been well documented but nothing ever happens and the corrupt behavior continues. Is there a person or group of people who oversee the actions of the mayor? If mismanagement of the funds are illegal, why haven't charges been brought against the mayor?

This has nothing to do with Chicago, TIF is used just about everywhere. They have TIF's in Kansas City and almost everywhere else.

How are the politicians in Kansas City? Do they abuse and mismanage the TIF funds like they do here in Chicago?

Corruption in Texas is kept on the 'down low'. Everybody (entirely GOP at the state level in all 3 branches) always colludes to protect each other (no matter which branch). The mainstream news media are of no help exposing corruption, more like the propaganda ministry by suppressing information and passing off civic boosterism.

At least your governors went to jail. The congressman and governor should have gone to jail but had good lawyers to pull off motions and manipulate the jurors with technicalities.
