"Veteran alderman Joe Moore, 49th ward, put the the criminal case against Burke and the Solis allegation in a historical context, saying it’s turning out to be the biggest scandal affecting the City Council since Silver Shovel, a 1990's corruption probe that ultimately led to indictments against six aldermen."

He's right. Time to reduce the number of aldermen. Daley has proposed a 15 member council.

Solis wore a wire for 2 years! That could bring down the entire City Council. Can you imagine the conversations?

Get rid of all of them and only replace 15 of the 50.

That's a good idea and the city would save a lot of money.

Somebody wired up on Ald. Solis BEFORE Solis wired up on Ald. Burke. Solis got caught and cut a deal with the Feds. My question is, what did the Feds have on Solis to get him to wear a wire?

Does anyone else see the irony;

"biggest scandal affecting the City Council since Silver Shovel, a 1990's corruption probe that ultimately led to indictments against six aldermen."

All this latest scandal shows is that Chicago politicians don't care about honesty, just self enhancement. Deja Vu all over again and again and again............................................. .......!

Reducing to 15 would be great but perhaps a more efficient number would be 22. The reason, the number 22 is the current number of districts of the Chicago Police Department. Having these neighborhood boundaries already in place would enable this to be quickly implemented (though I'll never see it in my lifetime! ). The district commander would then have to answer to only one alderman. It seems to me that its a perfect way to have all parties involved to have a vested interest in their community.

Solis was my alderman for a period of time. Have lived in same place for over 30 yrs., but have been gerrymandered into 4 different wards.

I didn't like him or trust him when he was my alderman. He gave carte blanche to a private Christian academy which opened in my neighborhood. This school was give a zoning variance, was able to close a pedestrian plaza so it's staff could park for free, and some on street parking spaces were removed from our parking sticker zone and given to this school for its vehicles.

I'm sure that the president of this academy made generous donations to Solis's political campaign fund.

An interesting note: Solis's sister, Patty Solis Doyle, served as Hillary Clinton's campaign manager in 2008 for a period of time, She was dismissed after Hillary's poor showings in the early primaries.

I have speculated that Danny wanted to be Chicago's first Hispanic mayor.
