Does anyone have experiences here? I've been living at St. Louis & Schubert for 6 years and I like it. I'm now looking at a place on Kimball just north of Palmer. I've been doing a lot of reading and research and it seems like this area is kind of the "borderline" area where things begin to get sketchy. I thought I'd check on here to see if anyone has experience with this particular area. Would my girlfriend feel safe coming to visit me here?

We live really close to there now, but West of Drake. I say you're fine until you get West of Central Park, although Palmer can get sketchy at night

Yes, with the usual caveats of don't be stumbling drunk at 4 am listening to your iPod, texting as you walk and ignoring your surroundings, etc.

I have some female friends who moved on the 2400 block of Kimball last year, they seem very happy with it. I visited them earlier this week and it seemed pretty calm both at 9 pm when I arrived and midnight when I left.

I also live near this area, and I would say the same as the other posters, it is not overwhelmingly dangerous, but you do have to use common sense. Don't leave **** unlocked, or anything of value in your car. Don't be stumbling drunk, etc. My impression is that Kimball is kind of a cut-off... along Kimball is a lot safer than anywhere further West due to the common presence of others along the major road.
