I hear you on the condos next to Cabrini. I have a funny story related to that topic.

The first time I rode through on my bike at night (12am)... I was at the corner of Halsted & Division, heading west on Division back to my neighborhood. I was looking around being cautious and then two young girls grasping Starbucks coffee appeared out of nowhere and walked right past me without a care in the world. Needless to say I felt silly.

As for being in the Honeymoon phase, it hasn't ended for me yet. I've been out here for 3 months and atleast a few times a day i'm reminded about my love affair with the city.

Welcome to Chicago!

Welcome to Chicago. I may be jaded, but yes, you're right - Chicago is a great place to live. I noticed you live in Portage Park! Good choice. Not too expensive and as you said, very easy to get around. Did you happen to attend Taste of Polonia over Labor Day weekend? You must take advantage of Portage Park - the actual park at Berteau and Central. One of my favorite city parks in the city. We should plan a City Data meet up in your area!

Try after a winter and a year. Let me know if you are still in love with this city. I was like you last summer when I moved here a year ago during the summer. Then reality set in.

I lived through the winter and still love it here.
But then again, I'm miserable right now and very unhappy to see 90 degrees in September.

Exactly. Would you rather be dealing with hurricanes in the gulf? Or droughts and water shortages out west? I think this is a case of "the grass is always greener."

It hit the 90s for exactly one day. And now we're looking at highs in the 60s for the next few days. This was a blessedly mild summer. I'll take my one day of 94 degrees versus EVERY day of 94 degrees like people in the south put up with all summer.

sorry it is not just the weather I moved from Mich. So it is not that different, I guess that I am not in to Chicago that much anymore. I am not really an urban person. I am looking to move out West
