Also and just saying if you're gay, Chicago is great for you too. There are two major fests I hear about here, Pride of course, and I think the other is called Market Days? Correct me if I'm wrong. I've also heard someone say Andersonville days has a very gay friendly atmosphere.

There are some great neighborhood ethnic/art/street fairs around the city and in the suburbs too. There's something going on practically every weekend. I love summer in Chicago!

Ha, I'm not sure why either. I live near Edison Park and no thanks. I mean, if you hate crowds, avoid at all costs. People are crammed so tight together you cannot move! Thumbs down.

Actually, I do apologize. When thinking, I have only really gone on a Friday or Saturday night and at those times it's unbearable. But they do have a stand from my favorite Mexican restaurant!

I just got back from Tour de Fat at Palmer Square and it is officially my favorite fest so far this year. It was completely free, as in there wasn't even anyone trying to solicit donations. Beer was supplied by Fat Tire and was reasonably priced and had many options available. The vaudevillian performers were great, the crowd was mixed and excellent and they even had a booth for shredding old documents and composting other crap you can't throw away.

I wish it was going on tomorrow too. Normally my feeling when I leave a festival is "that was nice but I'd rather not have to deal with it again until next summer" but this was so relaxing, not overly crowded and there were plenty of grassy, shady spots to lay out a blanket and spend an afternoon.
