I'm thinking of moving to Chicago sometime this year and was curious about the weather (especially the winter). I currently live in Boston and I wonder if the winter is roughly the same or can be as brutal as New England. Also, is there a film 'scene' in Chicago?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Chicgo's winter is somewhat colder than that of Boston but the length is about the same. There is a vibrant film community and some work as an extra is available.

Chicago is cheaper than Boston, but also a lot more spread out. Recently it seems like Boston is getting more snow.

Boston is a great city (I've got family there).

I moved from Boston about two years ago. I think the weather is roughly comparable. If you look at the published stats on average temps of the two cities, they're almost identical.

Rough summary: Chicago has colder temperatures but less snow. Probably not going to be much different.
