RESPONSE:

No. Perhaps you should review a list of the writings of the early Church Fathers and see the many directed to either supporting or condemning non-Christian writings.

Just a few examples:

Tertullian
-
The Apology
-
To Scapula
-
Ad Nationes
-
An Answer to the Jews
-
The Prescription Against Heretics
-
Against Marcion
-
Against Hermogenes
-
Against the Valentinians
-
Against Praxeas
-
Appendix (Against All Heresies)
- -
Ad Martyras

Justin Martyr
-
First Apology
-
Second Apology
-
Dialogue with Trypho
-
Discourse to the Greeks

Nikk....IT IS AN INTERPOLATION....there aren't any legitimate scholars that accept it as the writings of Josephus. Take the time to study these things and you will be better prepared to make an argument. If you wish to make any type of credible attempt at proving your point...you have to know the FACTS...from both sides of the fence....not just from the Christian side. Go learn why the opposition opposes what you say....you may actually learn something.

Not so. There are quite a number of contradictions in which one report must be untrue.

For example, was Jesus born during the reign of King Herod the Great (died in 4 BC) as Matthew reports, or during the census conducted by Quirinius when Judea came under his control in 6 AD as reported by Luke?
Jesus was born during the reign of King Herod. Quirinius had two censuses (concensi?) the seccond came when he succeeded after 6AD, but his previous census was earlier when he co-goverened Syria with Herrod as an administer for Ceasars affairs. See Tertullian, against Marcion.

You are correct, they condemned non-christian or heresies that came against the Church in order to protect the orthodox doctrine. The truth must be protected and the lies routed out. But a historian like Josephus? No need.

IT IS NOT AN ITERPOLATION. But you can believe what you want. Josephus' writtings are not scripture, but merely support the fact that Jesus realy existed (appart from the eye-witness documents of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, some of the writters of the NT).
