Very, very, very long story. I think I have a condensed version of it around here some place. I'll have to find it for you. Hold on.

A little bit of it can be found here (under a former screen name):

Ugh....

But to answer yor immediate question, I had my doubts for a while because I grew up reading Greek and Roman myths while I was also reading the Bible. Something did not quite add up back then, but I managed to skirt around the dilemma by claiming that Satan had every other ancient people deceived BUT the Israelites/Jews, figuring THEY alone had the true concept of god.

I don't think that Israel was immune from being deceived by the devil (as was evident by their actions). So what is your current view of God (I didn't read your link)?

Current view??? Which god are we talking about here? There are quite a few, but I assume we are speaking about the biblical god in which case, I do NOT believe in such a deity. Sounds like he derives directly from the mind of man.

Read it. I guess my experience was the inverse of your's. I didn't grow up reading the Bible and I went to a Catholic Church (of no value) b/c mommy forced me to. I was where you are now, living for self and denying God's existence to justify my lifestyle. Praise God that He opened my eyes to see His truth. I said a prayer for you dude. Having lived with hope in myself vs. hope in Jesus' blood, I can say that I am much more at peace being covered by His blood.

God Bless.

First of all, did I mention somewhere that I deny the existence of god to justify a lifestyle I did not mention??? In case you think so (a common misconception), you are sorely mistaken my friend.

Second, I am much more at peace WITHOUT the baggage of god and all the hoopla that goes with beliefs in such things. Go figure.

I go to church to be taught the Word of God and how to apply it to my life. I also go to fellowship with other believers. I also go to get involved in causes that help my community and world. I believe in Jesus. "Hate the sin , love the sinner"
