...do you think you have to agree with everything the denomination professes, or should it just be general agreement to the point that the few points of disagreement aren't important to you?

I am LDS and I agree with virtually all of my church's actual doctrines. I will say, however, that I often disagree with some of the leadership's policies. (If you don't make a distinction between the two, I can clarify what I mean.)
I do not think you have to agree with every last position of a church. However, the details would matter here. Is the disagreement with a fundamental piece of doctrine, something else?
For instance, if you were Pentacostal and believed you could lose your salvation, you may be hard pressed to be at a Baptist church where they believe doctrine states that once you have salvation, you cannot lose it.
So, hard to say. I would want (and do) go to a church where I generally agree with their position on fundamental doctrines.
There are some things I would agree and some things I would strongly disagree. But generally, I don't care of what a certain denomination teaches so long as they believe that Jesus Christ is indeed the Savior of all humanity.
I'm non-denomination (although I lean toward a charismatic side) and I attend a Baptist church. I don't agree with everything they teach, but they believe in the gospel and that's what matters most.
In my experience 90% of denominations agree on the core truths of Christianity. Refer to the Apostles and Nicene creeds. They just differ on secondary issues, like mode of baptism or speaking in tongues.
I attend the local Assembly of God, but am a Presbyterian at heart. So no, I don't agree 100% with the AG doctrines, but they teach the Gospel and the unity of the Body of Christ.
IMO what really matters is to be in the church fellowship where God has placed you. Not so much what the name on the sign says.
