Bascailly many of thsese are people who never should have been in such positions. In amny cases it more a case of these people shopuld never have been in the postion they were. An example is that in any prosion of trust with children we need to be vet the people including polygraphs to eliminate the attraction of pedilfes to these positions. We need to realise that people such as these are strongly attr4act to such positions of power over their victims.

What Godly guidelines? And, why do you assume they're not already doing that?

Maybe because they don't wear a big, neon sign on their heads which says, "I'm a rapist!"

I assume that you are simply being argumentative.

Have a good day, may God bless you.

But believe in what? Belief that their belief that they have a special connection with a deity that is only believed in gives them special privilege and immunity? Belief that hiding behind the cloak of being religions means that others will look no deeper and accept their phony facade as the true person. (well actually on that one, they do have something, for many refuse to look deeper)

No, I'm not being argumentative. I really want to know what you think the qualifications for being a preacher are.

Both Timothy and Titus give good lists to follow.

the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre [keep in mind how Jesus railed about hirelings]; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

Not a novice, ... Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; ... let these also first be proved; their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. ...

How many ministers today are hirelings?
How many start out so young that they have not even raised their children yet?

I was hoping that's what you were talking about!

But, even given that, wolves in sheep's clothing will slip into the pulpit and there's not much which can be done about it except to know them by their fruits. Paul even warned Timothy that in the latter days, it would get worse!
