Oct. 1, 2007 issue - Some stories are best told straight. On Sept. 8, Kathy Griffin, a bawdy, foulmouthed comedian, accepted an Emmy Award for her reality show, "My Life on the D-List," and in her acceptance speech she explained that while other actors might thank Jesus for such an honor, she wouldn't consider it. "Suck it, Jesus," she exuberantly added, waving her statuette in the air. "This award is my God, now."

This is the United States of America where we have something called "Freedom of Speech". You know what you get in Kathy Griffin, so what's the big deal?
Fyi - Her recent comedy special was entitled "Everybody Can Suck It" (Kathy Griffin: Everybody Can Suck It (2007) (TV)), so I do believe it was just a joke in reference to that. Not saying it wasn't an offensive comment, but to repeat what others said, we have freedom of speech... and you should expect this from Kathy Griffin (who I actually love ), since that's part of her schtick.
I wonder what the outcry would have been if she had used the name of another deity rather than the name of Jesus? Granted, we are fortunate to live in a country where we do have freedom of speech but we have to remember that with that privilege comes a great deal of responsibility and common sense. Laughing off the outcry by asking 'don't people have a sense of humor anymore", will probably not excuse her when she has to answer for her irreverent statements while standing before God. My prayers are with her.
That is a very blasphemous statement. It shows how the tongue reveals the heart of a person and how people use objects for their god.
Are you actually telling me you are taking this comment literally? Wake up! She's a comic. She's making a JOKE. It was a joke, saying the award was her god now.

Joke or no joke, one does not poke fun at God in any way shape or form. Granted, He instilled in us a sense of humor but for Him, we have nothing but our utmost and complete respect.
Who am I to throw stones at a commedian who makes her living off jokes. I just ignore her statement and go on. It is more beneficial to my state of well being to ignore remarks like this..I try not to let insults turn me into a hate monger for the pleasure of satan..
