Deuteronomy 23:1 "If a man's testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the LORD.
I think the King James puts it a little more "delicately"

Quote:
He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
So it appears that if all "members" could not be present, then all members could not be present.

Ummmmm, so why would a poor soul disfigured in that way be "cut off" from the assembly?

Barred from the specific ' assembly of the priesthood and Altar ' - Leviticus 21 vs 17-21,23.
Messiah was to be unblemished and since the priesthood stood for that then the priests were to have no physical defects.
[ Hebrews 7 v 26; Ephesians 5 v 27; Revelation 14 v 1,5; 20 v 6 ]

The deliberate castration of Deut. 23 v 1 did Not relate to the accidental or congenital defects of Lev. 21 vs 17-21 but something done deliberately for immoral practices, it's that person who would not be allowed to assemble with the congregation.

This is from Deuteronomy 25:

11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his testicles, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

When I was in school, we used to take turns doing a reading from the Bible every day. I wish I had known about these passages.

Believe me if you had read that she probably would have reached out and seized something of yours! And you can bet your t's that there wouldn't have been anyone around brave enough to cut her hand off!

Reminds me of a nun that was so tall and so tough on us 7th graders that we used to call her Lurch. One time this guy got pissed off and said, "God!" in a disrespectful manner to her. She ran over and slapped him so hard his head spun around about six times before snapping back into position. He had her palm print on his face for a week.

Catholic nuns! You just gotta love 'em.

Well, I liked a few of them. But I wasn't overly partial to the sadists. I got my fair share of The Strap. And after every blow, the guilty party had to say loudly and clearly, "Thank you, Sister."

I managed it with a sneer, even though it cost me a few extra now and again.
