My hubby sent this link to me. It's kind of long but well worth the read. My husband is a Detroit Lions fan. This is quite inspiring!

The beginning of the story reminds me A LOT of the movie "Facing the Giants".

That was very inspiring. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everone that claimed to be a christian would take that kind of stand and live it?

The world needs more people like that. People who are willing to live their faith 24-7 without compromising or wavering. Rock solid, yet they convey a love to all who are around them. They don't push people away, they draw people.

I hope I can be like that.

btw: My husband is a Lions fan too...it's the only thing we don't see eye-to-eye on. I've tried to "convert" him many times over the years, but no such luck.

I witnessed my husband and three grandsons lose their religion for a few minutes when University of Ky. lost to S. Carolina the other night

I don't make a very good sports fan. I always root for the underdog. The guys on that winning team don't need anymore help. The ones that don't have much going for them, need all the help they can get.

Just to be contrary about this, wouldn't it be more Christian to pray for God's help in supporting the underdog? Even if that would might mean that your favorite team would lose? hmmmmmm?

Yeah, I've seen quite a number of "grown" men lose all sense of Christianity when their team loses . Right now hubby is pretty happy as the Lions have only lost one game...but like I told him, the season is still YOUNG!

It can get quite animates around here at times. My hubby being a Lions fan, one son is TOTAL COLTS fan, another likes them Cowboys , my dad likes the 49ers...I guess if I would have to pick a favorite, it would probably be a tossup between Eagles, Colts and Lions.

I'm actually more of a baseball fan. I LOVE the Diamondbacks!!!!

Anyway, back on topic ...I realize there is always going to be the ones that are offended by one's faith, but it is very refreshing to see one stand without wavering!

I so like how you think, and yes I think the same. now for praying for help I sometimes find that I'm doing it just naturally or should I say just spiritually. anyways I just like to see the underdogs win to.

Why would god care about any sports, or who wins or loses? I laugh when I see sports figures thank god for a big win, or when teams pray before the game. Really, I don't think god would take sides or care either way. They players out there are just putting themselves at risk of injury.
