Do a lot of people forget the Beatitudes that Jesus Christ gave us at the Sermon on the Mount (or the Plain)?

Considering the lack of response to this thread, it would seem the Beatitudes are neglected!

Mouldy, was there something specific you wanted to talk about in regard to the beatitudes? If not, maybe you could share your thoughts about how they have been meaningful to you, and invited others to do the same? Seems like a constructive idea for a thread.

I wish mainstream Christianity would look more to the Beatitudes and the Royal Law of Love these days for their ideas of true right and wrong rather than still being ultra legalistic about certain other rules (often archaic) that arguably don't always promote the most loving situation. I'm not giving any examples since it would likely derail the thread so you'll just have to use your imagination

As the old hymn by Edwin Orr says.

O Holy Ghost,
Revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival,
Start the work in me.

If the beautitudes are neglected, may they revive in us. It starts by seeing ourselves and our neighbor as God sees us.

Amen, JR . . . the Sermon on the Mount AND 1 Cor 13 are the core of Christianity.

All these beatitudes are there by Jesus to give a clear view of Jesus Spirit , and some perspective that Jesus spirit will bring , like the poor in spirit which is opposite of a rich spirit who has everything already and this rich spirit may not be a righteous spirit which will take hope out than those poor in the spirit who need hope in God , then those who mourn will be comforted by Jesus comforter Holy spirit who brings comfort as God will make a plan which will bring release....Then the meek which are peaceful like a lamb , but have eternal fortitude for strenght....., then hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled which the Lord`s charity is on target.... , then the pure in heart will see God , as this pure of heart can only come from Jesus as it is absent in the natural earth, where people may not see God but will know Him through His Spirit and Know His voice ... Then the peacemakers are on target to the heart of the Lord as people are called to forgive and let go of sin and forsake divisions and contention's and discord , as God is for peace so people who obey will be God children .. Then persecuted for righteousness sake as a witness to truth as the dark spirit will come against men and woman who obey and they can come against them through people in the world , as forgiveness is a must .... See Jesus teaching of the beatitudes are a perfect reference of Jesus Holy Spirit who will abide in people who abide in the Lord
