I have heard some say that those who want to be better than others are self righteous. This may be the case. But the prophets of the Lord ,the son of man, bring His word to others in the service of the Father. It is not about being better than others. Some may think the prophets are self righteous but in truth they are righteous because their works are of God.

"The righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father."

A self righteous person is someone who relies on their own works and try to be better than others rather than doing the works of God to glorify God. They rely on there own glory rather than the glory of God.

"Whoever speaks on his own seeks his own glory but he who seeks the glory of the One who sent him is truthful and there is no unrighteousness in him."

Do you seek the glory of the One?

Those who do not seek the glory of the One, seek their own glory whether they know it or not.

"Anyone who acts in truth comes to the light so his deeds are revealed as works of God."

Who are the self righteous?

Those who think they know the mind of the Creator.

Self righteousness is one thing. Then there is the righteousness of Christ that all Christians have when they become Christians. Self righteous is trying to make God think that you are a good person.

we need to have Christ's righteousness on us because that is the only thing that pleases God.

The self-righteous believe that, in God's eyes, they are morally superior to others.

What about; "be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect."

People who are saved come through the righteousness of Lord Jesus Christ as they can go to Father God through Jesus and His righteousness , So self righteous must be opposite of that , like blinded of pride or control with legalism in God laws , like people who say `this is how I think so God must think like that ``....Where Jesus says for us to resist bad ideas and discern what you think through Jesus Spirit ...... I have thought that the root of condemnation tolerance will lack the wholeness that Jesus has , as there is No condemnation through Holy Spirit , only redemption of Christ for advancement in God plan
