"Now if anyone of you is lacking wisdom, let him be requesting it from God,
Who is giving to all generously and is not reproaching, and it shall be given to him" (James 1:5).

This is a promise.

This is not a request for worldly wisdom which is foolishness but rather a request for divine wisdom.

"Yet let him be requesting in faith, doubting nothing, for he who is doubting simulates a surge of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed" (James 1:6).

If you do ask God for His wisdom, do so in faith and do not doubt. Believe He will give you His wisdom.

After receiving the wisdom, then do as Solomon did. Read Ecclesiastes for the details. It is quite a read.

Thanks mate, That is exactly the point I was making on the 'This I believe' thread. As I say, you are a useful person to have around.

Thank you for this post. Wisdom is more important than ever in this season and age.

Did you ask God for wisdom, not doubting?

I believe that God talks all the time to all of us - even atheists. They may not believe it is God talking to them, but still they may listen.

ALL of us are part of the plan, even non believers.

And the march goes on. ...

That is a wonderful verse of scripture. I memorized that many years ago at church.

Yet, in these days/times, it seems that everyone claims to have 'wisdom' based on 'asking God', 'rightly divide the Word of Truth' and 'listening to the Holy Spirit.' Still, it is quite evident that many scriptural interpretations and doctrinal positions are diametrically opposed. So, what is going on? How can that be???

It is the result of the silly idea of using the scriptures to validate the scriptures. That circular reasoning is ridiculous. We must use the absolute standard of the Spirit of agape love to test the Spirit of everything in the Bible to discern which is of God . . . who IS agape love. Any scriptural interpretation or doctrinal position that is contradictory to or inconsistent with the Spirit of agape love is NOT of God.
