It's like the Greek text "pneuma" for "spirit" or "Spirit". It has a wide range of definitions that the actual definition is dependent on how it is used in the verse because all the definitions cannoot be applied to the Holy Spirit when one of the definitions is "demon".

So it is with psuche. Do note the emboldened portion of this definition from that concordance.

One is left wondering why they did not say "Greeks" then, because nations would infer every one across the nation where fleeing to any city of that country would be futile. So they are referring to a people in the immediate vicinity at that place and time; not that the incident went abroad where every body in the country were provoked.

Life and soul is not the same thing. You can lose your life and still have your soul. You can still risk your life, but hardly risk your soul. Life presently is mortal; the soul is not mortal.

Like it or not, the use of psuche in another form as that concordance I had used says, it can be used for life as how psuche is used in the verse does defines its usage.

Wisdom is needed from the Lord to read His words as He meant for us to read them and certainly, it is a requirement when translating. There is no way God had meant for eye slavery to be a part of His message to us.

I thank you for sharing, but you should compare other concordance if you are going to do that and trust Jesus to show which concordance, let alone which Bible you should be relying on for the exact message of His words. I do hope in the face of apostasy in these latter days, God will help you to see why Romans 8:26-27 and 1 Peter 4:19 in the KJV is why you should be relying on the KJV for the "meat" of His words.
So why do you use the 1885 revision of the KJV instead of the original which reads differently in many places? Just another man made version.
