One co-worker told me about a widowed woman who stopped her church envelopes and was told if she continues doing that the church would Not bury her.
One co-worker told me Sola Scriptura folks are flogged in public if they do not give money to the Church. The preacher also publicly sends them to hell.
Mayor Giuliani. The man who divorced and annulled his first wife. Before telling his wife.
The man who had an affair.
The man who announced in a press conference he was leaving his wife.
If wearing ashed did not show us how much he loved his country and church, he disgraced himself by announcing the President did not meet Rudy's level of Christianity.
For Rudy, it was not about showing Christian solidarity, Rudy has always been about Rudy.
But hey, the Daily News let his wife know that she had been replaced!
I don't think the rest of the country, who only knew Rudy by his 'America's Mayor' act after 9/11, realize how despised this man was in his own city.
My Ash Wednesday story.........the company I work for had a 3 day corporate meeting last week in Atlanta that included Ash Wednesday. So I did some research and found a Catholic Church 3 blocks away and the mass schedule was 7am, 12:10pm and 6pm. I decided that I would go to the 7 am mass. Me and about 4 others met in the lobby of the hotel and walked over for mass. Once the meeting started, others noticed our ashes and remembered what day it was. Then after lunch, you would see 10 or 12 more heads with ashes. Then at the dinner banquet, even more. During a speech after dinner, our corporate CEO was giving a speech and made a funny comment about the invasion of the Catholics during the day. I thought it was funny.
