But I left the Other prophecy thread alone. And I'll probably leave this one alone.
I'll just leave this critical tool for whoever wants to use it.

Prophecy was done in some demonstrable cases by starting with something you wanted to link with a prophecy. The death of Judas in Acts 1 (Luke) and Matthew. If you compare the prophecies with the OT originals, they are a right mess. Look for yourself. The OT had to be fiddled to make it fit the story the writers were telling. Another example was found not long ago with James at the council of Jerusalem misquoting Amos to make it fit the story.

Matthew's prophecy of the massacre of innocents, the prediction of the Virgin birth, Caiphas' prophecy in John are similar and thus the (various) quotes from Psalms at the crucifixion and, so it starts to look, the prophecy of the spear -stab, also begin to look suspect.

Happy hunting

I don't think this one needs a match to combust.

(Arq, I trust/hope you'll hover. Your biblical expertise may be required*)

Frank, Luke was written circa 90 AD---LONG after the Jews had been dispersed in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. It doesn't take prophetic vision to "prophesize" an event decades after it has taken place.

Joel 3:6 The Jews were never sold to the Greeks. Failed prophecy.

Including Isaiah's prophecy about Babylon and its fall. Many claimed it was written after the fact (With no proof just supposition). Oops, oldest copies now match the linguistic style, etc of Daniel's time, not a later time. There went one objection.

Here are just a few Messianic Prophecies -- There are a ton of other direct historical prophecies that were accurately fulfilled, if anyone is interested in more than simply nay-saying:

300 MESSIANIC PROPHECIES
Over 300 Messianic prophecies reveal intimate details of a long awaited Messiah and deliverer of mankind, promised by God. These amazingly clear and explicit Messianic prophecies were accurately fulfilled in every aspect of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, during His earthly lifetime. They leave no doubt that Jesus Christ alone is the long-awaited Messiah and Savior of mankind promised by God. There are also numerous prophecies affirming the ‘End Time’ return of Christ to earth.

In his book, “Science Speaks – An Evaluation of Certain Christian Evidences”, Professor Peter Stoner mathematically calculated the probability of any one person in history accurately fulfilling only a few of Scripture’s 300-350 Messianic prophecies. Professor Stoner narrowed-down his analysis to only include eight specific prophecies. He then drew calculated conclusions about the odds of any other living individual accurately fulfilling only these eight Messianic prophecies.
• Based on the estimated number of people that lived until the birth of Christ, the odds were 1X10 to the twenty-eighth power of any one person accurately fulfilling these eight prophecies (That’s 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!)

• Based on the estimated number of living people until modern times (1957), the odds were reduced to 1X10 to the seventeenth power!
The addition of even more prophecies beyond these eight, is pointless. The odds of any other person in history fulfilling only a fraction of the Messianic prophecies accurately fulfilled by Jesus Christ, are already astronomically impossible! [#2P).]. The eight Old Testament prophecies selected by Professor Stoner (and unquestionably fulfilled by Jesus Christ), were:
1. Born in Bethlehem - Micah 5:2
2. A messenger (John the Baptist), sent to prepare His way – Malachi 3:1
3. Entered Jerusalem as a ‘ruler,’ riding on a colt (foal of an ass) – Zechariah 9:9
4. Wounds in hands suffered as a result of the betrayal of a friend –Zechariah 13:6
5. Betrayed for 30-pieces of silver - Zechariah 11:12
6. Silver returned, but, not accepted; given (cast) to the potter – Zechariah 11:13
7. Oppressed/afflicted, like a lamb to slaughter, yet, spoke not a word (Isaiah 53:7)
8. Hands and feet pierced in the assembly of the wicked – Psalm 22:16

In his forward to Dr. Stoner’s book, H. Harold Hartzler, Ph.D, the Secretary-Treasurer to “American Scientific Affiliation” writes: “The manuscript ‘Science Speaks’ has been carefully reviewed by a committee of the American Scientific Affiliation members…and Executive Council…and has been found, in general, to be dependable and accurate in regard to the scientific material presented. The mathematical analysis included is based upon principles of probability which are thoroughly sound and Professor Stoner has applied these principles in a proper and convincing way.” (#3P). )

And Philip, one of the apostles of Jesus preached Jesus Christ to the Ethiopian eunuch from Isaiah 53. Philip obviously understood that Isaiah 53 referred to Jesus.
Acts 8:26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.†This is a desert place. 27] And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship 28] and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah. 29] And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.†30] So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?†31] And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?†And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32] Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth. 33] In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.†34] And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?†35] Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus.
Jesus read from Isaiah 61 and stated that He had fulfilled the prophesy.
Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17] And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, 18] “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19] to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.†20] And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21] And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.â€
Jesus read Isaiah 61:1 and 2a. That part of the prophesy was fulfilled by Jesus at His first advent. He didn't read the remainder of the prophecy because it is to be fulfilled at His second advent.

Jesus Himself stated that Moses wrote about Him.
John 5:46 "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me.
Circular...

Actually, I've been working these issues for the past 25+-years and have two of my own books in process - The section you objected to is my work, unless otherwise noted, such as with Professor Stoner's quotes, which are pretty compelling (and beyond my math skills).

What is your objection? Do you have any facts, figures or information ... or are you simply here to snap-out one-liners that tear down others .... without adding any substance or merit of your own?
