From the Gospel according to our dear brother Mark:

29. Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one: 30. and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. 31. The second is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Mikko, stick with these two verses and put the first into effect by always following the second. When you follow the second, all the other "rules" of religion will fade into the background leaving you as one blessed--and free--child of God.

Never ignore rule #1 Love God .
One that is truly loving God can have direction from God how one neighbor needs to be loved .
But if one is basing their own govern on loving their neighbor, they can be creating more of a problem than helping him.
Repentance is turning from self govern, to God's govern, on a personal level.
Rebellion is adopting a name ( philosophy/religion), and doing your own thing, cherry picking values/scriptures that suit you.
Jesus provided the Holy Spirit so that one can be taught of God , how to love his neighbor, amongst other things.
Here in is Jesus Lordship realized.

How can you love something which probably doesn't exist?

It's just the same as how you love something that does exist - give thought, attention and devotion to.

Jesus warned one cannot sincerely do #1 until one masters #2...

There are no other rules. My advice for you, me, Mikko, and everyone else is to keep the two greatest commandments. It's simply not possible to break any other "rule" of God as long as you do so.

As Zman stated in his post, it is impossible to do the first without mastering the second.

Amen!!! That is how we can know that the Spirit of agape love is God's truth. If we always act out of the Spirit of agape love we can NOT sin, period. That is why when we do NOT act out of the Spirit of agape love we must repent. It is so simple. It always amazes me how we humans can so perversely complicate and screw things up.

You were talking about "all the other rules", so I asked for clarification. When everything can be summarized under the two commandments, then I am not sure what you meant.

Did the thief on the cross work on "mastering" anything? No, he loved God, and he was saved.

Love God, and everything follows. It is legalistic to think you have to master anything in order to have a relationship with God. You actually had it right with your first try, but the second one was off.
