I don't care for "Lessons and Carols" services--a church service where there are Christmas carols and readings from Bible passes about Jesus's birth, but no sermon.
We've heard them all before, and I don't get any new practical lessons from them. So I go 2 weeks without a sermon. Not good.
Not in a million years. Lessons and Carols is a deeply beautiful worship service, one that speaks to the scriptural foundation of Christ's birth as a fulfillment of prophecy. In the hands of a good choir, Lessons and Carols is more eloquent and transcendent than just about any sermon I've ever heard.
Only in your reality, not everyone else's. There certainly are such things as choirs in most of Christ's church.
But go tell that to the poster who is always hollering from the choir loft! He thinks HE's right. Maybe you guys could do Rock Paper Scissors to resolve it.
And you know this how? Don't tell me... It's because it's not mentioned in the Bible, right? Wrong. Colossians 3:15-17 says, "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
