Today, Jan. 7, is Christmas Day for most Eastern Orthodox Christians. The majority of their churches use the revised Julian calendar.

Today's date is Dec. 25 on that calendar.

Happy holidays to my Orthodox Christian neighbors.

the hard working people of the religious......lots of chanting and so many saints and special days, you have a saint of the day every day it seems. Standing for the entire service wouldn't get it for me but to each his own........like those tall hats.........

I didn't know that! I guess I should have, because I knew they celebrated Easter on a different day. I did have some Russian Orthodox friends, though, who celebrated it on December 25.

Thumbs up Thank you & God Bless! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Thanks for your kind post, thread & message!

Blessings to ALL of our Christian Brethren CELEBRATING the Birth Of OUR LORD & SAVIOUR!

A BLESSED CHRISTMAS & EPIPHANY SEASON to ALL!

During this time, I also believe that is when they jump in the FREEZING cold water as part of the celebrations, right?

Do you happen to know what are some of the traditional foods eaten during these HOLIDAYS?
