As my DH likes to say, some things go over like a 'lead balloon' ! I think this thread just did ! :-)
And to think, I spent at least an hour hunting and picking on the keyboard !
Better luck next time, Marian....:-)

Ah well....at least I was 'working' , LOL.
Thank You for posting the scripture.... I so believe there was a purpose God had you to do it. God's word does not come back void, but is sent for the purpose of His will. Some words of possible encouragement....
We may not see it at the time the results of our obedience, but someone God was reaching out to and I do believe that the hour was given to the glory of God...and He will bring forth the fruit of His love in a heart of one passing by or whatever His purpose. But because of the obedience of His children, someone God was able to reach and touch that heart.....
As I understand faith/works...we are saved by faith - by the death of Christ on the cross. Our works should come naturally and are part of our salvation, because faith without works, is dead faith.
Marian, Mark 16:16 "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
Other verses that say the same are:
Romans 1:17 "For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live byfaith."
Hebrews 10:38 "But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."
If I correctly counted, there are in the NT alone 114 passages that speak to "by faith".
Faith and deeds need to be kept in their correct perspective. Best way I know of how to explain this is:
Find someplace were you can see your shadow.
The sun light that is shining on you is God's son Jesus.
The Son's light that penetrates you is your faith.
The Son's light that tans you is your "armor" from God.
The Son's light that makes your shadow are your deeds (good work).
All the verses are NIV.

This is all well and good, but I fail to see the point. One scripture does not cancel out another. Besides, the scriptures I posted are not refering to "the Law". The "Law' in all those scriptures are refering back to the Mosaic Law. I deliberately left them all out of my OP.
As for your first scriptures from Mark 16.16 and on, I didn't look up all of them, but I know they are not parallel verses to Mark 16.16. Why did you not post all the ones that include baptism ? Is there some reason why we should not consider baptism another 'work' just as Jesus said 'faith' is ?
But this thread was not meant to be about faith or baptism. This one was strictly about works.
For it is the work and the Glory to bring about immortallity to the sons and daughters of God.
And what an awesome work it is to be part of the great work of God.

My point was "works" do not save. "Works" are a result of an active faith. All those passages parallel Mark 16:16. "He that believes will be saved".
What do you believe about the relationship between faith and works?

The reason I didn't mention baptism because baptism isn't a 'work' that we do. Baptism is something God does for us.
