I wanted to start a thread about the rise of fundamental Christianity in the military and how the war on terrorism is being thought of as the new crusade against the enemies of God. What do all of you think about this military religious nationalist movement sweeping the armed forces in America? How do you think Jesus feels about it?

He would probably be ok with protecting the innocent against the jihadists.

That is, if there was such a crusade going on, which I don't believe there is.

I am wondering where your sources are that describe what this fundamentalist movement is. I spent 6 years in the Marine Corps. Didn't see anything like you are decribing.

There are quite a few different sources to refer you to. And even a documentary about it all.

Military Disservice: Fundamentalists On The March In America’s Armed Forces | The Wall of Separation (http://blog.au.org/2009/06/30/military-disservice-fundamentalists-on-the-march-in-americas-armed-forces/ - broken link)

YouTube - Fault Lines - Religion in the military - 25 June 09- Pt1

"The Crusade for a Christian Military": Are US Forces Trying to Convert Afghans to Christianity?

There is much more out there but should suffice to make my point.

I think fundamentalists are very scary people.

Jesus loves it!

Remember, people that face their deaths each day tend to also spend a lot of time in prayer too.
It's natural for people in the army to draw closer to God.

I think it is also very good that people in the army turn to their Lord during war time, as it might give them some peace when they watch their friends die....
