Can a "66 books only" Christian know what the writer of Jude is talking about in some places of his book without knowledge of contents from the First Book of Enoch or the the book known as the Assumption of Moses?
Can a "66 books only" Christian understand truly understand the New Testament and modern Judaism without at least reading the First Book of Maccabees?
Can a "66 books only" Christian understand parts of Ephesians and II Peter without knowing contents from the First Book of Enoch?
Can a "66 books only" Christian really fully understand his faith without at least a cursive HISTORICAL understanding of other books that provide a glimpse into what shaped New Testament theology? What would be the fallout if he or she gains this understanding?

I've wondered this too. I think this is a very important and critical topic for numerous reasons.
I wish that you may consider starting a new thread about the "66 only book" Christians not for controversey but enlightenment.
Question (for everyone): Whose Bible?
The Catholics? The Protestants? The Jewish? The Ethiopian Orthodox? (The latter has the largest canon). They are all different...different number of books. (I could also mention others, such as those printed by the sects, cults, etc...) Likely all of these churches would tell you their particular Bible version is the "correct version". So...who would like to tell us which version is the "real" one, and why do you think so? Why shouldn't we go ahead and see what the "other" versions say? Who determines what is "inspired" scripture, from that which is not?
Bud
We only need deal with those who believe YHWH is God alone [Jews] and those who believe that Jesus Christ is God come in flesh to save us from our lost state and redeem us back by His blood Atonement. No reason to get into the pseudo christian and anti-Jewish cults "canon" or rewritten Bibles, as we already know that they do not believe YHWH alone is God and/or do not believe that Jesus Christ is YHWH come in flesh.
What do you think about the Apocalypse of Eliah, the Apocalypse of Peter and the Sybilline Oracles?
And unto them, the godly, shall the almighty and immortal God grant another boon, when they shall ask it of him. He shall grant them to save men out of the fierce fire and the eternal gnashing of teeth: and this will he do, for he will gather them again out of the everlasting flame and remove them else whither, sending them for the sake of his people unto another life eternal and immortal, in the Elysian plain where are the long waves of the Acherusian lake exhaustless and deep bosomed

It does relate to the OT, NT and the prophets. 1 Peter 3:20 and 1 Peter 4:6 show that Jesus actually preached the gospel to the dead in the prison (Hades) who died in the Flood. And they were given life by God's Spirit. No one sees this, because of their theological blinders.

There is also other very obvious ones people completely ignore, such as Romans 10:9 and Romans 14:11.
We have "every knee shall bow, every tongue confess Jesus is Lord". And we have "if thou shalt confess the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart .... thou shalt be saved".
So we have every one confessing with their tongue. And we have if you confess with your tongue you are saved.
Then you have about 100 other Bible verses which contradict Eternal Torment here:

The problem is Bible translations have been translated WITH this theological idea of "eternal torment".
For example, Matthew 25:46 says "these shall go into everlasting punishment". However, the terms "kolassis aionios" can not mean "everlasting punishment".
1. Jonah 2:8 - we have Jonah in the belly of the fish/whale for "aionios", or 3 days (not eternity).
2. Kolassis comes from the root word which means "to prune". Pruning a tree (trees are symbolic of people in scripture) means to make it grow better.. The term kolassis means "discipline to benefit the person receiving it". You can not benefit from "eternal torment".
There are many other things.. This is just a few proofs above.
Episcopalians use the apocryphal, intertestament books in worship, but they are not considered a basis for doctrine. Nontheless, they are important for understanding Second Temple Judaism and Christianity.
The Holy Bible has been tampered with greatly by the Protestant Catholics since the days of old, who btw, ordered that certain books be taken out of the Holy Bible. and for that, they will pay dearly with their souls.
99% of Christians only know about the Bible, not the other books that were taken out. For this reason, a LOT of them will die as well when Christ returns..
I have read Enoch, the Book of Jasher, and some of the other ancient texts. I believe it profitable to be versed in areas most especially if they are even mentioned in the King James. Had I not read Enoch, I would have had no idea as to who Daniel referred to as a "Watcher". The word "Watcher" is not referred to anywhere else in the King James except in the book of Daniel. I probably also would not have realized that the "spirits in prison" were referring to the fallen angels and their dead offspring who are now the demons. One can also find just who the black goat that upon who's back all the sins of Israel were heaped from reading the old texts. I also discovered from the Book of Jasher who Nimrod was, among whom the nations were divided during the days of Peleg, and who Melshezek actually was. Please excuse the spelling.
we have 66 book now and mastered none of them. and we can tell this by the discussion on them. so why get more?.
