I know that we are all guilty of this: yes, even I.
We see a post that requires a response on a certain point but yet not really on topic with the thread, but yet we post, thinking it will be seen as a side bar note to the thread on all that is being shared in relation the OP.
Then we hope that the reply to your post doesn't necessitate another reply because before anyone knows it, it is no longer in relation to the topic, but practically starting another topic within the topic.
Most people, including myself, will be patient, hoping that the point will be made and get back on topic. Some will try to help put the thread back on topic:
In any event, this may be seen as a helpful hint now that I have thought of it. I hope I remember to do so if God still wants me to post in here.
When anyone sees something they need to reply to that is off topic: copy and paste the post in direct message to the poster you wish to respond to and then respond to that post that way in direct message.
For those that wonder how to use the direct messaging system, you click on the poster's name in the post you want to reply to as it pops up a little window beneathe his or her nickname with a list of choices: one of them being "send a direct message to" the poster's name you had clicked on.
Maybe this helpful hint has been stated before: then may this serve as a reminder.
