Don't worry, you're not. There will be nay-sayers for every topic on earth.

I hate Fords, for example. Everyone I know with a Ford spends more time with a loaner than with their own car, it seems to me.

I have owned three cars, all Dodges, and got my money's worth out of all of them, and I follow the book's maintenance schedule.. Especially the Spirit. Loved that car.

The Stratus was not a very well made car, but it was cheap and I got 9 years out of it, with very little repair expense, leaks being the biggest issue. When it got expensive I got the Avenger. The savings in gas alone is phenomenal.

The problem here is that there are multiple other cars out there that can do what you want and every last one of them is considered "better" than the Avenger in every way. I'm not trying to detract from your personal experience and love for your car, but it is obvious that you didn't really explore many options before buying what you knew, which was a Dodge product.

If someone came on here and asked for a list of vehicles to meet those needs, my guess is that no one would even mention the Avenger. Glad you are happy with your purchase as many people end up with a little buyers remorse, but your opinion and experience are anything but typical.

really most of the people I know who own ford and chevy trucks and suvs have the opposite. The ford focus is an outstandind small car the ford fusion is very good the guy next door owns a 2009 SE and it has top notch fit and finish.

the only dodge cars or trucks that is worth getting is the ram 2500/3500 for it's cummins diesel and the LX based RWD platform cars. dodge makes bad FWD cars. the avenger with the 2.7 has one of the worse engine sludge problems ever and has tons of recalls for it.
as for MPGs the
avenger gets
16 city
27 Hwy
20 combined
the ford fusion SE gets
22 city
31 hwy
25 combined

16 mpg in a mid size car is terrible a full size pick-up can get those numbers hell even a 2011 V-8 ford mustang 5.0 V8 gets 17 mpg city and it makes 412HP

The 1993 Dodge Spirit was the best car ever made??? PULEESE, the car had the Mitsubishi 3.0 which was notorious for burning oil and smoking. They were junk. I have not seen a Dodge Spirit in years.

The 2000 Dodge Stratus was a fast sporty car with the four cylinder. Give me a break, it was a 11 second 0-60 car that could barely get out of its own way.

The 2008 Dodge Avenger has a 3.5 V6, not a 3.4 V6. It is kind of strange that someone would buy a car and review it while not even knowing the correct engine size. Regardless, this car has 235 horsepower which would blow away either of the two previous cars with a 0-60 time of 7 seconds, yet the OP claims this car is lacking in the power department.

As you can see, I clearly debunked the whole post.

Aren't you the clever one. 3.5. yep, those darn typos.

The Avenger does not have great pick up. I read that in many reviews before I even drove the car myself. Those reviews were correct.

I see Spirits on the road every day. And every time I see one I remember how great mine was and how much I miss it. It was a fantastic car. 33 mpg highway right up to the end. When I let it go, at 235,000 miles it still had the original exhaust system. But I need a car that does not constantly need repairs, so had to let it go.

The Stratus loved to go fast, but the mileage sucked. 26 highway, if I was lucky. Leaks plagued me. The catalytic converter went at 130,000.

I have two things to say. First, I fail to see what longevity to this forum has to do with anything. Is there a rule that people are not allowed to post opinions until they have been members for a year? I think not.

And secondly, these statements are my opinions and opinions are just that. I drive this car every day. I know what I like and what I don't like. And I like the Dodge Avenger, for all the reasons previously stated.

I find this hostility to my posts about my cars bizarre, frankly.

I drive the Doge Avenger every day, and keep track of mpg with every fill up.

I get 33 mpg highway, driving 70 mph.

I get 26 mpg city, stop and go.

I get 29 mph mixed.

Glad to hear you are having good experiences, but Dodge, especially the newer ones are cars I try to steer clear of.

I gotta agree here. We had a friend who bought one for his daughter....they couldn't unload it fast enough!

Regardless, they are my opinion and experience. You can't possibly know what I explored before buying this car.

I think the Avenger is a great car for the money. It was actually a much better price than many of the crappy exports of the same class (such as kia and hyundai, for example). Much more affordable than the Fords, and I ahve already stated my opinion of Fords.

It's beyond me why people are so determined to tell me how wrong I am, and with such hostility besides. Huh.

I have no hostility with you. I mentioned new member because your posts defy common logic. Now you are saying Fords are junk and spend all day in the shop. That is funny since I have a 20 year old Ford Escort that I have owned for 3 years and it has NEVER broken down. It is a daily driver too. Seriously, where do you come up with this nonsense?

You asked for opinions. You got them.

If you like it and have had a good experience with it...Isn't that all that counts?

it's not that maybe you got lucky but heres a link from 2008 showing that the avenger had over 99 recalls and problems all the way from engine trouble, interior trim breaking to paint peeling.

Chrysler No Longer Liable For Vehicle Defects? In Chrysler's Bankruptcy, "the ability to form a new company free from product liability burden (responsibility for defects that cause injury, death and ability for victims to sue) of the old company was essential to the new company's survival" says Chrysler spokesman. In sharp contrast, GM WILL BE continuing to accept responsibility for the vehicles it designed, tested built and sold.

CHRYSLER NEWS - IIHS Safest Vehicle List - Ford, GM Made The List, NOT ONE CHRYSLER LLC VEHICLE MADE THE LIST
2009 IIHS Safest Vehicles List, not one Chrysler LLC vehicle is on it, which is more documented fact to show how Ford and GM continue to improve as Chrysler continues to decline. Ford had 16 vehicles make the list and GM had 8 vehicles that made the list. Chrysler is the only major automaker NOT on the list.
