It was a POS.

What is next Ford bringing back the Pinto. I no the new versions have no relationship to their older versions, but those names will deter buyers.

Give them a new name!

are you kidding? the Dart was generally a highly respected compact. from the late 60's to the last test in 1973 that Consumer Reports tested it, it did MORE than a compact car was expected to do. it had roomy comfortable seats, a ride that was as good as a full sized car (the 1968 Dart actually had a more comfortable ride under full load than the same years Cadillac Sedan De Ville) and a great reliability record.

The original Dart (up to 1976) was a rugged, reliable car.

Also a wide variety were available throughout the years, from an economy 170-cu-in, 198-cu-in and 225-cu-in slant six, the mid-range 273 and 318 and the performance 340, 383 and 440. And the '68 Hemi-Dart, of course!

I owned a '66 GT V-8 for quite a few years. Never a whimper from the engine, even when doing numerous burnouts and winding out 1st gear to 45 mph and 2nd gear to 75 mph.

I guess you forgot the original dart never set the world on fire, it was just basic transportation.

Yeah I am talking about early 90s Darts. Didn't know they were reliable before then, but still the name stinks.

You have no clue what you're talking about.

The original dart had a slant six which would run for like a billion miles on a half a pint of oil and a litre of coolant.

I remember riding in a convertible Dart, around 1967. I had a 4-speed if I remember correctly and I thought it was quite cool.
