I would take that 2011 or 2012 in a heartbeat. The WK was not known for reliability and they like to pop up with electrical gremlins, amongst other things. I've also heard of transmission isssues, but have not seen it firsthand. The electrical gremlins, I have. The WK2 is a complete redesign. I had a 2012 and now a 2014, and having driven the 2005-2010 generation, I wouldn't touch a 2009 with a 10 foot pole. The only thing that Overland has going for it is the Hemi, the 3.7 V6 was complete garbage in the GC. As for brakes, the other posters are correct, those GCs tend to have brakes that are small and people like to ride them like an old grandma.
From my experience, the WK I drove wasn't all that great in braking, and it liked to roll back on hills. Maybe I've gotten used to having hill start assist on my WK2. My GC can also stop on a quarter and give a nickel for change. It's not the greatest in stopping, but it will put you through the windshield if you have to stop in a hurry, which I have. I've noticed no loss in braking after 8000mi.
