I am currently using Verizon Fios in Pittsburgh. Is there anything close to this in speed in or around Clifton/Gaslight?

Cincinnati Bell has fiber optic service in some communities. If you call them, they'll tell you if it will be where you are moving. They may have an online tool. In Pleasant Ridge, we don't have Fios yet and the DSL speeds are pretty atrocious - as in, you can barely watch youtube videos and I have the upgraded speed. So if they don't have Fios in clifton, you may be stuck with time warner for cable internet.

I use Time Warner and it's not bad. No problem watching videos or playing some online COD

Default re: internet

I have Cincinnati Bell Fios. It is usually ok but has periods of 1-2 days where it is not any good. I have no idea why. When it works, it is the fastest thing in town. Previously I had TW and this is usually better.

I wonder if anyone who has Fios has had the same problem. This weekend the internet was horrible, not good enough to stream Netflix, for example. Other times it has been fine. They claimed that Fios doesn;t have any "traffic related" speed dropoffs but now I am not so sure.

I would also like to know if there are any forums around discussing this topic...

For what it's worth, TWC's RoadRunner has been very dependable fat my home (although the TV reception quality is fair to poor and their service quality is beyond abysmal). I'd guess we may have a minor outage on average once every two or three months. And when it happens, it's corrected quickly.

I have TW and CB, but my CB is not fiber optic. The CB is always a problem going down once a week for an hour or two.

The TW is better as for reliability. TW is registering 30MB download speed this morning which is more than the output of most sites I would visit. CB is about 3MB yesterday.

Tubby,
Is it fios? I already had to replace the wireless modem once within 3 weeks of installation. Hopefully not again so soon.

Hi wolden, no, I do not have Fios. I've never looked into that before. I just have a basic DSL high speed connection. For me, it's really not about the speed. How is I feel is, what do I care if it takes 3 seconds to load a page versus 1? I just want the damn thing to be reliable enough for daily use.
