College Hill
After searching some of the threads on this board I get the feeling that this is not the best area and may, in fact, even be in decline. I was just wondering if this is correct, and what your opinions are of the area.
Thanks for your replies.

It will all depend on where in you move to. There are some very nice streets north of North Bend Rd off Hamilton Ave with nice brick homes that rival what you see in Hyde Park. There are some nice homes near the girls catholic school Mt (something). If you cross Cedar east of Hamilton -that area is the worst in College Hill.
I grew up in College Hill and if it weren't for the school district I would've stayed there. College Hill has a very active neighborhood association and I think the city is planning on revitalizing the area.

That's always the way it is with Cincinnati. Pick any neighborhood in the city -- save for Hyde Park, perhaps -- and it has its good points and its bad points, its desirable areas and its undesirable areas. Cincinnati is a city of neighborhoods, but within those neighborhoods are housing pockets that vary from one block to the next.
Usually, what you hear about a specific neighborhood -- "College Hill is in decline" -- refers to one person's impression of one very small part of that neighborhood. Look beyond the neighborhood name and what people tell you about it, and explore the varied pockets of that neighborhood. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

With the exception of Northside, Wyoming, and Glendale pretty much everything west of 75 is in decline right now. But as the prior posters state, there are pockets of good and bad in just about every neighborhood.

Thanks for all your replies. In particular, thanks to Bigbluelandrover...there were a couple of homes in that area east of Hamilton and south of Cedar I was looking at. I'll make sure to steer clear of them.

If you go East of Hamilton you are ok as long as you are north of NorthBend rd. There are nice residental streets over there. I think that neighborhood is slept on but there are some nice homes over there.
