Do any local over the air TV channels such as 5, 9, 12, 19 etc. carry any Reds games during the course of the season?

I think you will find TV rights to Reds games are a negotiated deal and only one station will be carrying them.

And then you will have try and determine what part of the City they are attempting to draw as listeners. I have given up on trying to determine who Reds listeners really are. Maybe that is part of the problem?

Not always the case. When Hartford still had the Whalers NHL team they used to be carried on NESN (New England Sports Network) on cable but local TV channels would also carry games. Sometimes two stations in a single season would carry games.

Here in Indy I noted the Chicago White Sox and Cubs will be carried on Ch. 8 and Ch. 23. 57 games total on the two stations.

When you speak of Chicago all bets are off when it comes to a listening public. But let's face it we are talking about the Reds.

All I am wondering is if a local TV station carries any Reds games during the course of the season. Anyone know?

I just wanted to illustrate that TV contracts vary from team to team and market to market.

Fox Sports-Ohio is carrying many of the games, but that is not a local station. A few of the games are on Fox, so possible the local Fox affiliate might carry them. WLW Radio is the radio broadcast station.

NESN ROCKS!!! I always liked Jack Edwards over the top announcing of Bruins games.

As far as the Reds go they are only broadcast on Fox Sports Ohio.

Thanks. Bummer. Do listen from time to time on WLW when I have the time.

Fred Cusick was the guy I recall doing games for the Bruins back in the 80's. Also on TV 38. Can't recall his color guy though. Whalers had Gerry Cheevers and Don Blackburn doing color commentary and Rick Peckham calling the games for most of that decade. Used to be called Sports Channel New England back then.

I remember watching the Bruins on TV 38 during the Bobby Orr/Phil Esposito days before I came to Ohio in 1973, luckily the WBZ signal reached here.
