I just accepted a position at GE in downtown Cincy. I started researching the springdale, west chester area. I am a single female and want to live somewhere safe and affordable. I can drive to the areas that have night life don't need to live there. I have read some old threads about areas to live in but wanted to know if there is some more updated info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I first read that for some reason I was thinking you were talking about GE that sits along 75 north. I guess because of the West Chester and Springdale mentions. That had me thinking Wyoming and Hartwell but after noticing that you said downtown, I would definitely scratch West Chester off the list if i were you. I would suggest Mt Adams, East Walnut Hills, O'Bryonville, Hyde Park, Mariemont, Columbia-Tusculum, Oakley.

I would recommend looking directly across the river in Covington, Newport, or Ft Thomas where you are minutes from downtown.

The more info you give, the better suggestions people can make.
Based on your mentioning Springdale/WestChester and focus on crime, it sounds like you're more interested in a suburban environment.. but you should probably clarify that.
As far as the communities you mention - WestChester is mostly newer builds (last 30 years) with a lot of recent development (last 10 years) and is becoming something of a northern hub. Springdale is a bit older, and has (generally) slightly smaller/older housing stock (more '50s/'60s) - primary shoppinng is along Kemper near TriCounty mall.
