I am taking my son to one of the theme parks in ohio and was looking for some other ideas of fun things to do. We will be taking a week trip and wondered if anyone had any ideas for a fun family place to check out. He is 10 years old, so it would have to be kid related. Parks, zoos, museums, hiking, site seeing, boat rides, etc. Any ideas?

Do you have a preference of which theme park? There are loads of things to do in the areas around all of them. The northern part of the state has Lake Erie for boating, island hopping, Perry's Monument, etc. Museums include, among others, COSI in Toledo, Sauder Village and Auglaize Village, Isaac Ludwig Mill, and many others for history, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Football Hall of Fame. For Zoos, there are Toledo and Columbus, both well known. The Neil Armstrong Museum and the Bicycle Museum are both close. Many, Many activities and attractions.

Going south, near King's Island you will find the Ohio River, The old Union Station museum complex in Cincy, loads and loads of local and state parks for camping and hiking, caves and caverns for exploring (some of those up north too), Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton, Wright Patterson at Dayton, Young's Dairy Farm (GOOOOOOODDDDD Ice Cream) at Yellow Springs and lots more. Let us know if you are currently leaning toward a particular area and we can point you toward more information for that area.

Enjoy your stay.

I would go to either Cedar point Geaugua Lake or Kings island (geaugua lake would be best for a child who's not yet ready to ride huge coasters, though Cedar point has a strong kiddie section). You could go to the Lake Erie islands, Rock hall, Great Lakes Science center, Cleveland Museum of art, Cleveland or Cincinnati zoo's. The beaches on the Lake Erie coast (Cedar point has one of the nicest). Reds or Indians games. See Serpeant mound in Southern OHio. As mentioned the Cosi museums are fun for kids. Hope this helps.

by the way guys, I let one of my coworkers on and she typed this. I don't have a son, and I usually only go to Ohio for business.

Anyway, keep the responses coming. She's appreciating them and so am I.
