Union County? That's quite a commute, isn't it?

Hi, Not meaning to hijack the OP's post, but can you elaborate on WHY 'Batavia is definitely not the best choice'? I am about to close on a house in Batavia this week and it seems great to me. We are up by Owensville, off 50.

You should consider looking at subdivisions along Little Dry Run Road.
To the OP: I am moving to Batavia from NY. We did take several trips out there over several years but we are still very unfamiliar. We looked in Northern Kentucky and all over Clermont, mostly in New Richmond.

I do not know about race relations but I did notice a striking lack of anyone of color in Clermont while I was there. But, I was looking out in the more country areas, not in neighborhoods. I would have preferred a bit more diversity, and I was surprised that there weren't more blacks, especially since the areas history was huge in the abolitionist movement.

We considered a new house as well and looked into Drees, Ryan and Potterhill Homes. We decided to focus on property and location and chose 5 acres in the woods. But as far as new houses go I thought the Potterhill homes had a little more architectural character than the Drees or Ryan.

Having researched some of the school districts in Clermont; Bethel, New Richmond, Batavia, West Clermont and Clermont Northeastern, they all seemed relatively equal and good. Where I live in NY the quality and budgets of the districts swing wildly form neighboring district to neighboring district, and my elementary in NY a '3'. Clermont Northeastern Elementary is a '9', and a Blue Ribbon school. In Clermont it seemed the districts were more even, 8s and 9s, and that made us able to focus more on neighborhood and house.

Good luck and keep us posted!
