I realize the size of Austin itself is about 6x that of Bellevue, but the cores actually aren't TOO far off. In judging each, think living opportunities, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, arts, etc. Pictures are welcome!

Good to know- I haven't been to Austin but I'm very curious about checking it out some day; it seems like a great place and if I need a break from Seattle's weather it would be one place I'd look at living.

It's a nice place, it's growing fast and it's a very stable economy. It's above the average for Texas scenery. Not many Texas cities are located on good scenery. Austin slightly is.
The downtown is redeveloping very nicely at that, it's got a lot of things going it's way. So it's nice to see all of that. Plus I assume coming for you, the cost of living is something you can take advantage of if your considering a move.
I live in Bellevue, but not downtown Bellevue. You need to be making a lot of money to consider living in downtown Bellevue. Anyway, Austin is a real metro area. While Bellevue is technically a city, it's really just a really big suburb of Seattle. I live in Bellevue, but when asked, I always say I live in Seattle. Despite the fact I don't. But I use to the same in regards to suburbs of Atlanta.
I've never been to Austin before, but from what I hear it's really nice. The cost of living is probably far lower. Bellevue is clearly one of the most expensive areas not only in Washington, but in the entire US.
