An easy answer for NY State would be somewhere in the Adirondacks, but I have a couple other candidates, such as Tug Hill, or the eerily lifeless Route 104 between Oswego and the outskirts of Rochester.

In Pennsylvania, pick a point east of I-79, north of I-80, and west of I-81.

In Georgia, pick a point north of I-16, south of I-20, and east of GA 11.

If you wish to be real technical, Point Roberts (in WA), is cut off from the rest of WA, thanks to the Canadian border.....but that's basically the Greater Vancouver area, so it's not isolated as far as people.
In WA, maybe Neah Bay or Forks.

The county is Loving County, Texas. The population in 2006 was 71. Mentone , the County Seat, is the only town in the county with a population of 58. No bank, no service station, no Mc Donald's (LOL) and the County Court House is about the only building in town.

wow, thanks for the correction.

It seems I was on the right track then. Loving must be the most isolated area of the state. I can't imagine leaving the county to get a Big Mac

Well its not in my state but I think I've got you all beat. Lost Springs, Wyoming. I only know of this place because my Mom is actually from here- the town was devastated and lost half of its population when she left LOL. We actually drove through the area a few years ago- WOW! talk about isolation.

Carbondale, in southern Illinois, is perhaps the most isolated large town in the state, with the closest metro area being Paducah, KY (~75mi) and closest large metro area being St. Louis, MO (~100mi).
