Why is Chicago in the first group?

I would probably put Baltimore in that group, not Chicago - although large Chicago feels much more midwestern than any of the other cities in that group

And also curious where you are putting places like Newark, Jersey City, Hartford, Providence, New Haven, Bridgeport, Trenton - they are much larger than many of cities you have categorized

Orlando is invisable like usual on this forum. So is Jacksonville. And why is New Orleans listed as a carribbean city?

Baltimore and Chicago should be switched. Baltimore is a large Eastern City (as well as not being a rust belt city) and Chicago is more so a Rustbelt city.

Never heard of those cities what state are they in? Think the blog was about big cities or major cities.

Well cities of 300k in 26 sq miles are fairly significant - the North Jersey Cities anywhere else in the US would be major cities - but fine with the sarcasm

Or as a comparator - the area where Jersey City and Newark reside (Hudson and Essex county) have a population of 1.4 million over 190 sq miles by comparison Austin TX has a population of 786K over 296 sq miles or a place like Seattle with a population of 617K over 217 sq miles - you tell me which area is more or less significant...

baltimore is an eastern city; chicago is a rustbelt city. baltimore does have some rustbelt traits, though.

by rustbelt i don't mean 'decay.' i think of older midwestern/eastern cities with a large manufacturing base and a history of industrial prowess. chicago and baltimore both fit the bill.
