For your information Jimmyjohnwilson, I never said the coal fields were rust belt if you would actually read the legend you would know what that is. Its coal industry which has died or is dying, and is linked to the rust belt. Now if you have any other problems with the map, then understand that it's based off of this map, and also information i found on Wikipedia, as well as other sites around the net.

So if you have any problems with Kentucky being in it, then bring it up with them.
Personally I just think you are a smart ass with no intellectual input that decided to go on a 50 questions rant and rave without actually reading my original post.

anyway

MplsTodd, thanks your information was resourceful. I fixed the map. Added and deleted a few areas that were necessary in my mind.

really? i got it from them, blame them. thats the best you can do? how about, i dont know, actually researching these economic areas instead of just going off of one map with no sources? i thought this was the map to end debate? seems like the debate aint over.

the coal industry wasnt along the northeast section of the river. the coal industry was in the eastern coal fields, which extend all the way through to southwest VA and Northeast TN. coal mining and "rust belt" arent the same things though.
heres a map of where coal mines are.

and what rust belt industry was going on is southwest indiana?

what on earth was this map even based up of?

the rust belt, is best characterized by this (the swath of red from eastern MI to central MI) and then possibly including some unconnected cities:
The rust belt is WAY more than Michigan, please do research before you post.

And I did do research other than a single map, what the hell are you talking about? Did you bother to read anything I posted? And what's the point of extending the coal mining area into Tennessee and Virginia on the map when They are even FARTHER away from the rust belt than the areas you are arguing. Just stop while you are ahead please.

that was a typo. it was supposed to say "the swath of red from eastern MI to central NY".

ok, tell me then. what industry was in mayslick, brooksville, Berlin, and tollsboro KY? and what makes you think coal mining ends at west VA's borders?

then whats the point of including the coal mining at all? the coal mining region continues all the way down through TN and VA. if thats too far from the rust belt, then maybe you shouldnt put it on there at all? because its just innacurate to pretend that coal mining magically ends at all of WV's borders

mayslick, brooksville, Berlin, and tollsboro KY arent even on this map? That's just blank space between ashland and covington. And with that arguement I can also say there are fields and small pointless towns between Toledo and Mansfield, but it's all encompassed in the same region. You are making no sense. You are just arguing for the sake of arguing. You want a SUPER detailed map, then go make one yourself.

Really like I said, just stop while you're ahead.

Really like I said, just shut up.
well then maybe, i dont know, you ought to shift that yellow up? seriously, how defensive can you possibly get?

and no, that argument doesnt work, because there are little industrial towns all through the areas up around toledo. in KY there is nothing there, except right along the river. people never flocked to those areas for industrial jobs, later to have the areas become depressed from lack of industry. it was just never there in the first place. its not rustbelt there.

im making perfect sense. enough whining.

the only part of KY where people did flock later to become economically depressed was the eastern coal fields. but like i said, that extends from middle PA on down through NW TN and SW VA.

And quit going back and editing your posts to make yourself look smarter.

I'm quite aware the coal mines extend all the way to Tennessee. there is no point in expanding my map into Tennessee when the rust belt, and the coal mining regions BORDERING THE RUST BELT is the focal point.

You are the one that is whining. Coming onto my thread micro-managing a small section of my map I decided was unnecessary to add. I'm not responding to you anymore, you have made yourself look like an idiot enough.
