Detroit is working on similar plans. The project is called the Detroit-Region Aerotropolis. It will connect two large airports to form an "airport city" distribution and logistics hub. A second Detroit-Ontario bridge is going to be constructed in the coming months to clear up a shipping bottleneck at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit. Detroit is the busiest border crossing for shipping in North America and is a critical shipment point for just-in-time deliveries.

This gets more complicated the more I read.

Ports on the east have signed memorandums of understandings with Panama in anticipation of increased traffic.

In return, West Coast ports have signed the US West Coast Collaboration to keep the West Coasts ports and the railroads competitive.

I dunno, the central location of Texas, The less congested highways, and cheaper means of getting the products to consumers sounds really attractive to me.

Dallas is also DAMN far from the United States' #1 trade partner: Canada

So, no, I don't think so, but it can still be major, nonetheless.

The answer to the question of the nations premier logistics and distribution hub is Chicago.

I dont see how Dallas is trying to take that from Chicago. All Dallas is trying to do is beef up in this field.

I don't understand why Minneapolis doesn't work harder on getting a Cargo Port. I heard talk of one but it fizzled away.

Maybe cut through to Buffalo and the Northeast Corridor. Just a true Chicago-Quebec City corridor would be huge. God, that would be so hot.
That would be TOO awesome.

what question are you answering?

The question is does Dallas have what it takes to become the premier logistics and distribution hub in the US. So Chicago is an odd answer to that question.
