Stereotypes:

LA

Shallow
Fake (both inside and out)
Materialistic
Bottle blondes
Love shopping
Keeps in good shape, nice tan

NYC

Tough
Urbane/street-wise
Sophisticated
Picky
Direct
Some are bookish/intellectual

Chicago - not sure

More homely/traditional?

Do you notice any differences in real life?

I DO realise I'm generalizing millions of people, but just thought it'd be a fun discussion, not to be taken seriously at all.

Don't know about Chicago, but feminism is rampant in the other two cities cities especially in Los Angeles.

Yeah, LA does have a lot of those women. Though, the benefit of a city of Millions is that there will be a type for everybody.

I would say there isn't really a distinction between between those cities besides superficial qualities. However, I would say that women from the big three cities in the U.S. are going to be way more status and image oriented than smaller cities or obviously semi-urban or rural areas. It's going to be all about how you look, what you are wearing, where you work, who you know, how much you make etc. -- anything past that doesn't count for a lot of people.

That said, it's a pretty big over-generalization. It's like saying everyone semi-urban or rural areas are hicks which is clearly not factual as well. Though I do believe to some extent this stereotype exists, especially since I've at least been exposed to it as a college student traveling to these cities.

I think women in every city are street wise and tough.

Generalizing millions of women by the negative stereotypes of them in these cities isn't setting up for a "fun" discussion.

Sound of door closing.
