SF Bay Area hands down. It is a far more important region economically, culturally, internationally than Miami. The quality and level of education of its immigrant populations are also vastly higher.

How can we compare a CSA to a MSA?

Population alone makes this an unfair comparison for Miami imo.

Honestly it seems strange to really compare Miami to any place. Its really the most unique (yet more one sided) in its immigration patterns. It doesnt recieve nearly as many immigrants from Asia and very few from Africa, but it is really the undesputed king of Latin American immigration (sans NYC, but its unfair to really compare it to any place). To put it in perspective Miami recieves 1.5 times as many immigrants from Latin America as Los Angeles.

So while Miami doesnt have as diverse set of immigrants on worldwide level, what it gets from Latin America makes it extremely unique.

Unless Asians count twenty times more in the international category, which is what many people in this thread are doing.

What makes Asians more international than Latin people? I don't get it.

Diversity: Bay Area

International: Bay Area

Cosmopolitan: Miami

If you look at every facet, the Bay Area wins. Hands down? Not too sure about that.

Economically- absolutely, Culturally- nope, internationally- debatable, Miami is vastly more important to Latin America than the Bay Area is to Asia or any other region, but SF is the tech innovation capital which does have a worldwide influence.

SF Bay Area hands down. So many languages are spoken there, that the school district can't keep up with the students' needs. SF is full of Latinos, Russians and other E Europeans, French, Germans, Chinese, Japanese and SE Asians, and Near Easterners. Europeans love San Francisco, they say it's America's most European city. California has the 8th largest economy in the world, and a lot of that economic activity is based in the Bay Area. (LA also plays a large role, clearly.)
