What is the main control city/cities on your state/interstate highway signs?

In NJ, it's mostly New York City.
In NY, it's mostly Albany, New York City, New Jersey, Montreal.

It's interesting. I've recently drove south to Kansas City from Minneapolis.
On my way home from Kansas City, north of Des Moines it seemed like every other MILES TO: sign was Minneapolis, then St. Paul, then Minneapolis, then St. Paul.

I know! from every direction except directly west it does that. I know that coming back from Fargo all the time it rotates between Minneapolis and St. Paul, but heading west on US 12 around Delano the signs all say "Twin Cities".

I-40 & I-25 interchage

I-25 sign reads: Santa Fe/Las Cruces (should be El Paso/Denver)
I-40 sign reads: Gallup/Santa Rosa (should be Flagstaff/Amarillo)

most other guiding signs lead with Albuquerque

East: Madison, South: Albert Lea (should say Des Moines), North West: St Cloud and North: Duluth.

The ones in Chicago are strange, they use states in a few spots and they even have Memphis as a control city

They change depending on where in the state you are. If you were to be at the midpoint of each of the major interstate highways in NJ, the control cities would be:

I-78 EB: Newark
I-78 WB: Clinton

I-80 EB: Paterson/New York City
I-80 WB: Del Water Gap

I-287 NB: Morristown/Mahwah
I-287 SB: Somerville/Perth Amboy

I-195 EB: Belmar
I-195 SB: Trenton

I-295 NB: Trenton
I-295 SB: Del Mem Br

Garden State Pkwy NB: Woodbridge/North Jersey
Garden State Pkwy SB: South Jersey

NJ Turnpike NB: New York and North
NJ Turnpike SB: Camden and South
