There are a couple threads on this topic already. Minneapolis and Denver draw a lot of comparisons on this forum. If you want to see what others have already written, it's probably not too hard to find.
Though I've never been to the Twin Cities, it sounds like Minneapolis is a more thoroughly cosmopolitan, culturally-rich city than Denver. Minneapolis has the cultural ammenities, the diversity, and the big-city vibe that Denver has really never had.
To the above poster. ARE YOU SERIOUS????? Please explain, and than I will tell you HOW WRONG you really are! If you just want to comapre that is! Try looking up Denver's DPAC (2nd largest in the Nation) and than get back to me!
I've lived in both cities so I think I have a pretty good perspective.

^Actually I think Denver has worse pollution than Minneapolis, by far. So maybe that should be switched? Otherwise I agree with just about everything except maybe Sports, since none of our teams here have been too competitive lately.

You're right; Denver does have worse pollution than MPLS.

By the way, I'm actually from Denver. I love the area. But I don't love the city's obnoxious boosterism which pretends that it is one of the country's hippest and most vibrant cities when, in fact, it's more or less a sleepy cowtown. I like culture as much as the next guy or gal, but I don't pretend that Denver is even close to the level of most other similarly-sized or larger metropolitan areas. Give me a middle-American city roughly the size of Denver and chances are it will have a more established, rooted cultural scene. St. Louis? Much better. Minneapolis? Better.
Sorry, but listening to the Fray in your GMC Yukon while driving on I-25 doesn't count as culture.
Culture takes time, and Denver is kind of a "newer" big city in the world of big cities, so it's not all that surprising that culture is lacking or unattractive for Denver, however that does not necessarily mean it will always be that way, and Denver's definitely got an attitude and quality of life that distinguishes it from just about every other major city in the country. The Twin Cities have been "major" for at least 50 years longer....maybe 100.
The arts a very important in Minnesota and Minnesotans are willing to pay for it. In 2009/10, the state's per capita spending on the arts was an astonishing $5.80 (by far the most generous state in the country). Colorado's per capita spending was a mere $0.24 (ranking 45th out of the 50 states).
There's a reason why the Twin Cities have an world-class arts scene: because the people support it. Denver doesn’t compare at all.
