My husband has a job offer in La Quinta, CA (Palm Springs area) and also in Chandler, AZ. We can't decide which one to choose. They both pay the same. We have 2 teenagers in high school. We live in the Seattle area now and want to move to the sun. We have familiarized ourselves with both locations, looked at homes, visited the schools and I think we would be happy at either place. Any thoughts or advice on which place would be better?

I'd say its just a question of do you want the amenities of a big city or a resort town? Its a pretty long drive out to LA and the beaches from La Quinta so you should make sure you have what you want there. Then again no big city freeway traffic so that might matter to you as well.

This is a no-brainer for me...AZ will be much cheaper to live and if the pay is the same in both places that will make a huge difference. Chandler is a good place to live and near some of the best school districts in the valley. The immediate area in Chandler will have much more to offer than Palm Springs.

I'd pick AZ without question.

With kids, Chandler. Palm Springs is a retirement town and there is little to do but shop and play golf. Chandler has much more to offer teens and you too. And you don't have to worry about earthquakes.

If you like Chandler, you may also want to consider Gilbert as well. Housing in Gilbert generally tends to be somewhat less expensive than Chandler, and for the most part has good schools in the Gilbert, Chandler, or Higley school districts.

We have looked at Gilbert, Chandler and Ahwatukee. We think all three would be good, but we like Ahwatukee the best.

I think AZ would be better for you teenagers - more to do and less chance they'll get into trouble (and drugs) due to boredom.

Chandler...all day.

I just moved from that area about 2 months ago for work. La Quinta is nice but it's a little boring IMO. Palm Springs is the closest metro but it's not great either. PHX has pro sports, better cultural centers, a better airport, better housing costs, and lower taxes.

So yeah....go with Chandler.

I agree. Since both jobs have the same pay, it's Arizona hands down. Absolutely no question about it.
