Hockey is huge in Upstate NY at all levels, so it was really cool to see that out there, and see that other cities/states appreciate hockey like we do.
Please........in what, the 45,000 seat TCF Goofer Stadium?? A HA HA HA!
You really dont think places in Mass, NY or MN wouldnt match or surpass the attendance record if their stadiums allowed 100,000+?
Buffalo has the record for an NHL game from the 08 Winter Classic at Ralph Wilson Stadium (71,217). You can be sure if the capacity was larger theyd have the record.
Minnesota is KNOWN for Hockey on all levels -- high school, college, and pro.
I know Detroit is the self-proclaimed Hockeytown (mainly due to Red Wings and their winning), but the Red Wings aren't even their largest fan base in the city, arguably.
To me there's really no comparison between the two. If you want to compare NHL franchises, that's one thing, but hockey itself on all accounts is much much bigger in Minnesota overall than Michigan.
Exactly. Its self-proclaimed from their success in the 90s. Cheap.
Detroit is a Lions town first and foremost. Even now with the Tigers, the Red Wings are third fiddle. Pistons blow.
Go ahead and see what dominates sports radio in Detroit.
