Good stuff

I wonder why DC ranks so low in Hispanic DMA. I thought Hispanics in DC were a significant minority.

That's because DC is a black and white city, it's not all that diverse at all.

That boggled my mind too as Hispanics are the 2nd largest minority and make up over 800,000 in the DC metro. Does this mean that only 1/4 of Hispanics in DMV own a TV? Doubt it. Somethings not adding up.

Nielsen measures their Designated Market Areas by households and not by population. So this means that there are 225,870 households that are Hispanic that own and watch TV in the DC DMA.

If you multiply the median household size by # of households, then you'll get a good idea of how many people have at least one TV in their home.

LOL this assertion kind of goes with the stereotype, don't you think?

I understand what you're saying and that you meant no offense. Hispanics, like Asians, tend to have a larger number of people per HH (extended families, multiple generations under one roof, etc). As was pointed out, Nielsen measures HH -- not total population.

While DC has a large enough Hispanic population, there's so many more Metro areas with a larger percentage of Hispanic residents than DC, especially the smaller metros along the Boarder states. Honestly, I was surprised Tampa metro was BELOW Washington DC.
