If New York had to pick a 6th borough (or find a replacement for Staten Island if they ever secede), where would it be? A classic pick is Philadelphia, and more recently there's been CRAZY TALK of Cleveland, Ohio becoming a destination for priced-out New Yorkers. In fact, we received many personal messages from ex-New Yorkers living over there, singing its praises as the nation's "best kept secret." Before Cleveland, there was talk of Jersey City, Atlanta, and even Yonkers as being contenders for the coveted title—they've all garnered press as the latest migration trend (as have the suburbs, and Kansas City). So, if we're going to extend a prestigious 6th Borough title upon one of them, which should it be?
Being close to NYC has its benefits and downfalls. All classes are looking for a more affordable lifestyle.
Some of the wealthier counties in NJ and Pa have benefitted greatly from NY middle class/upper middle class moving to their areas. I have also read reports of some of Pa.'s former stable blue collar towns like Allentown,Reading even Lancaster struggling with newfound crime from recent Nyers moving into town. I rode through the southside of Allentown this summer and could not believe the transformation, not necessarily a good one.
On the otherhand Up on Phillys Main Line and Bucks County you can't swing a cat without hitting a BMW or Mercedes with NY tags.
The 6th borough would have to be Jersey City or Newark.

jersey city looks more like a boro way more then long island. so does newark also.
isnt it funny that someone can reach home to jersey city from the city faster then someone who lives in far rockaway or jamaica queens? lol
