New York would be a nightmare.

Los Angeles, too, because of the arid climate. Yes, it's within 200 miles of the country's most fertile growing regions, but the transportation would be a nightmare.

Basically, after the first paroxysms, the areas of the South and Midwest would likely fare best due to the ability to grow food and access to energy.
